Residential Services
Training Toward Self Reliance, Inc is unique in some ways in that we offer a rural home-like setting in which to learn and grow. We staff our homes with caregivers who are awake and monitoring our individuals around the clock as we realize that it is vital in keeping our individuals safe within the residential setting. We stand firm in our mission to provide permanent residential placement for some of the most challenging individuals in the state of Pennsylvania and we do so by attempting to provide the least restrictive environment as possible. All staff are trained in Safe Crisis Management, which is an intervention utilized when an individual is escalated and presents an immediate danger to him/ herself or others around that individual at the time of agitation. Direct Support Professionals are also educated in Positive Approaches, CPR, First Aid, and other client-specific trainings. TTSR, Inc. staff are focused on nurturing and assisting our individuals to learn the skills necessary to make sound and healthy choices for themselves and to continue to grow in the home and community.
Adult Training Facility
Training Toward Self Reliance, Inc operates an Adult Training Facility (ATF) which fosters an environment in which our individuals can learn daily living skills, pre-vocational skills, money management, reading/writing, and other activities. Through the ATF, our individuals also have opportunities to attend special events in the surrounding area and at times trips are scheduled to special locations throughout the state of Pennsylvania. Not far from the ATF, is our in-ground swimming pool and pavilion area for picnics and other social gatherings. Our ATF Coordinator has developed a full schedule of daily activities and preferred offerings for our individuals who attend this service in the hopes that they are afforded a more structured and consistent form of day programming each and every day while at the same time offering choice in their day to day experiences. All staff working at this location and who provide this service work diligently and collaboratively to ensure that all attendees benefit from and have access to their community and to experience opportunities throughout the great state of Pennsylvania
